A note on the Palette

Heron Paint is a working studio, and this season I've streamlined to focus on what I do best — a tight foundational palette and custom color matching. Custom work is honestly the heart of what I do. It's hands-on, exacting, and one of the most satisfying parts of making paint. If you have a color in mind, I'd love to work on it with you. $150 per color, developed and mixed in our linseed oil base. It's a worthwhile investment.

Great as always!

Excellent quality oils and wax

Natural, healthy, and high quality linseed oil, tung oil, and finishing wax. I love the tone of the finish on the Greenland kayak paddles that I have recently made. Feels great to the touch as well!

Disappointed, but made it right!

I did have a little problem, but Travis resolved it - kudos to him and Heron!

Heron is now my go to for Linseed Oil paint and products

over the past 7 years I've been learning and using linseed oil paint on my wood creations, including Chairs, spoons, and bowls. I have multiple cans of Broun's, jars of Sage, and now more cans of Heron. With my latest project of painting 10 dining room chairs, I am convinced that Heron is the best product for me. I used Heron purified linseed oil and Linseed oil paint in a 70/30 ratio for my primer coat, Heron Linseed oil paint for my second coat, and applied Waxy wax as my finish layer. What amazing coverage and just the right sheen. I love the way the grain of the wood is still expressed and look forward to the patina in the future.
There is something different about the Broun's linseed oil soap that I find to be touch more enjoyable to use, but I'm not sure what the true difference is. I still use and enjoy the Heron Linseed oil soap.
I have to say, there is one question I have about Heron products. Why so much packing material. I understand that you make a great product, but a box with packing material, inside of another box with packing material, and then a compostable bag around the cans? Love the compostable bag on the can, but the addition of a second box and packing material feels like a high school egg-drop challenge exercise :).
