Heron Waxy Wax is our enhanced version of the standard linseed oil and beeswax wax used by a lot of woodworkers. We wanted a longer lasting, more durable wax that remained compatible with our linseed oil paint while lasting a lot longer outside in the elements.  We didn’t want to stray into the world of carnauba or solvents.

Waxy Wax is made with our homemade boiled linseed oil, raw tung oil, beeswax and pine rosin.

We developed this wax primarily as a rejuvenating wax (maintenance wax) over aged linseed oil paint, and for raw wooden surfaces, but it works well on stone, metal, and brick. We suggest you run some test samples to make sure it works on your project.

This is NOT a food safe product as we make it with our boiled linseed oil.

Everyone has a different method for applying waxes. We like to keep it simple. Start with a clean and dry surface of course. We like the regular ole technique of applying the wax with a 3M gray or white pad or a small piece of soft lint-free cloth. Work into the surface, keeping to thin coats. Check for dry spots. Fix those if they appear, and let the wax sit for at least ½ hour. (if it's not in the sun, wax can wait 5-8 hours or so) Rub off the excess wax with a new section of a soft clean cloth until the surface appears dry. For added protection, more coats can be applied after 24 hours.

Drying time is usually about 24 hours at room temperature; fully cures in about a week in ideal conditions.

We primarily made this wax for recoating aged linseed oil paint that’s outside. If you’re using this wax in place of boiled or purified  linseed oil for rejuvenating old paint, you can apply this wax a bit thicker, and avoid the buffing out part of the instructions. You'll still want to apply this wax in really thin coats, but don't bother removing the wax with a new cloth. It takes longer to cure in these thicker coats, but it definitely lasts a lot longer.

If you're using this wax on raw wooden floors we suggest your floor receive a saturating coat of boiled linseed oil with a full cure time prior to waxing.

Repairing or renewing the surface is quite simple; just apply some fresh wax.

Wax Coverage: 150 - 205 Sq. Ft. Per Quart, depending on surface texture/porosity and wood species.
