Linseed Oil Soap Concentrate

12oz jar makes just under 1.5 gallons of liquid soap.

Our handcrafted soap concentrate is made from our own purified, cold-pressed linseed oil from the Dakotas. It is a very effective all-purpose cleaner, especially well suited for cleaning brushes, painting tools, and woodwork while staying in the linseed oil family of products. Pine rosin is added for its cleaning power, and lather. Our linseed oil soap is ideal for exterior and interior surfaces before applying linseed oil paint.

Dilute with water depending on the job requirements. Diluting 12oz jar in 1 gallon of water makes for an effective brush cleaner. For quicker results, dilute in very hot water, and stir occasionally. May take overnight to fully dissolve. A stick blender/immersion blender makes quick work of dissolving this soap in hot water. If rosin settling occurs, give the diluted solution a shake before use.

Ingredients: Saponified purified linseed oil, and pine rosin. All sourced from the USA.

Please keep in mind If you use rags to clean linseed oil or paint, you should dispose of those rags in water or lay them flat to dry.

Be advised that some pigments in linseed oil paint can stain PORCELAIN SINKS.

Our gentle soap is great for general, everyday cleaning, including dirty hands, metal, millwork, wooden floors, tile and most surfaces around the home. Rinse with water after cleaning if you're going to be painting.

Great for cleaning linseed oil paint brushes in place of toxic mineral spirits or turpentine. Artists brushes can be cleaned as well for a solvent free art studio. Pour the diluted soap into a few containers, using the first container as the dirtiest first stage of the cleaning process. Move onto the other containers until your brushes are clean. Dirty diluted soap can be left for some time as the pigments settle to the bottom. It can then be decanted and used again.

Dried artists brushes and LOP brushes can be soaked in hot soapy water overnight, loosening up dried paint.  A higher percentage of soap to water may be needed for stubborn dried paint. An extra days soak may help as well. Save those brushes!

Old painted metal hardware can be placed in a pot and heated to a simmer. Most old paint will fall away or loosen enough in an hour or so, softened enough to wire brush to bare metal.
