Great product and great company

I love this paint and the company’s mission to provide a sustainable product with less impact on the environment. The paint was packed well and everything arrived in perfect condition. I’m using it on cedar shingles for a sidewall and it applies beautifully and coverage is amazing. It would be great if you could purchase sample jars in addition to sample cards when trying to match existing paint. I think it would be great if you offered a line of brushes that work well with your paint also. Oh and I love the stickers!

Amazing paint and colors

Using this paint for some woodworking projects. The paint is fantastic and colors are wonderful. Durability is excellent. I’ve had one project that has been outside in all kinds of weather and it’s holding up perfectly. Also tried the linseed soap and was surprised how well it works to clean the brushes. Lastly, the shipping has been really fast with every order and everything is well packed. Really good company and products!

Shipping is overpriced

$19 shipping for 1/2 pint of linseed oil paint?

Hi Gene, thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the USPS shipping rates. We used to offer USPS Ground Advantage which is considerably cheaper, but the longer ship time resulted in more damage to orders. We strive to provide the best service at the most reasonable prices, but USPS and UPS pricing is not in our control, especially for 3000 mile journeys. UPS is generally cheaper than USPS for much of the country so that could be an option next time. We will definitely take your comment into consideration for future orders. It's our goal to get our linseed oil paint across this big country as cheaply as possible. -Heron

love this paint!

The Chrome Oxide Green paint color is so decadent! Love it and that there are no toxic fumes from it!

Smells great.

The paint simply smells like art paint. Like oil. It’s basically sunscreen for your wood. We are fans here. Although I have no long term texts to verify aging, there is a study by the national parks about the ease of maintenance with traditional paint vs modern formulas!

Most practical linseed oil paint I have found

I have tried three types of linseed oil paint on my current project - restoring windows in a 100 year old house. The first two (European varieties) took way too long to dry. The Heron paint dried within two days with just a fan blowing on them and under various conditions. Great product and easy to work with.

Linseed Oil & Commons Green Paint

I was blessed with a homemade swing set for the little boy I keep. I wanted to make sure it weathered well and would be around until I could use it for a bench swing for me! I painted it first with the pure linseed oil and then with the Commons Green paint. It is beautiful!

Lol, not the spam folder...

I haven't opened my shipment yet and just sanded the first window in prep for painting. Had to do a couple epoxy repairs and fixing some compromised window glazing before I will be testing out linseed oil paint for the first time. I have high hopes for this product - will provide another review post paint job and again after a year suffering Michigan weather.

Heron linseed oil paint and oil.

I used the oil to make a primer. Then two coats of full strength paint. The outcome looks beautiful and seems to be holding up nicely. Was very easy to use and apply.

Everything was great

Great product , looks great , easy to use . I would definitely recommend . Only issue I had was the pint size , it was manufactured in June , when I opened the can it had a solid film of oil covering the entire top , I attempted to shake the can to see if it would dissolve , it didn't , and there was little chunks of it throughout the paint , but I managed to complete my project by working around the chunks .

Old wood new again!

I applied your linseed oil based paint as directed and it was not walked upon for 5 days. I am pleased with the outcome. Hoping it will hold up during the winter months. 🤞🏽

Linseed oil paint

This is my second time purchasing from Heron and I love the product. I am using Lexington Blue to paint a new chicken coop I am building for the yard and it looks great!

Wonderful

Lovely product. Fast shipping

Love the soap, paint and oil finish

It’s been a great experience working with Heron Paint. They are super responsive and helpful. I used the soap to wash my windows and doors and then re coated. I also used their paint and that was nice too. Hoping to switch to all linseed paint in the future.

I love it

I am very happy with my purchase of paint. The colors are vibrant, and look amazing on the wood projects that I make and have a great feel on the wood. It was mintier than I expected, as it is the color of the forest service trucks, not a forest green. I also can't speak highly enough about the people at Heron. I had an issue with my order and reached out to them (that was partially my fault). They responded fast and went above and beyond to help me. I highly reccomend this paint and company.

Excellent

We have a large Victorian overlooking the Hudson River which we are in the midst of total restoring to its former glory. I learned about linseed oil paint a little late, too late for the massive window job of restoring 40 windows (grr), but in time for everything else. The paint is superb. The color magnificent. The coverage what they billed out (3 coats). Highly recommend. Test below (left) next to the same color (Pantone) in Ben Moore, which after drying is anemic.

Test Run

New to linseed oil paint but liked the many upsides to the product. Started with a test run on a mill shed before tackling the larger barn this was mainly intended for. Travis was of great help answering questions. Started with raw wood, applied a coat of purified linseed oil first, then couple days later applied a 50/50 mix of purified linseed oil and linseed oil paint (fiddlehead). Despite challenges with central VA humidity (applied when had a few lower humidity days) working with the paint was easier than expected. A little bit goes a long way as we used thin coats taking time to spread and work the paint/oil into the wood. We did this smaller building all by brush but will try a roller on the next project, taking time to back brush to spread the paint out that will likely go on thicker. The 50/50 mix has a nice look with what appears to be adequate coverage and that at this point don't see a need to go back over with straight paint.

I like it...

Been looking for someone in the United States who made a pure raw linseed oil that was petrol and chemical free and that I could afford. I have been applying this oil on wooden spoons, cutting boards, walking sticks etc... and "so far, so good". As time and finances allow I look forward to trying some of their other products . I would definitely recommend Heron.

great for chairs

switched the paint for my chairmaking business from milk paint to linseed oil paint from Heron. the results are great and with less work.

Great paint. Better service.

As a sign painter reverting to LSO paint, Travis has been incredibly helpful figuring out technical issues of an old form of the trade. And of all of the LSO paints I use. Heron’s are my favorite.

where has this paint been all my life?!

The coverage of this paint is incredible! Applying linseed oil paint is a pleasure - only good smells (nothing toxic), cleanup is a breeze, and it's an absolute pleasure to brush on this paint. I could not be any happier. The owner knows his products and helped me (I was applying it initially like it was latex paint - that doesn't work with linseed paint, it turns out). I will definitely be purchasing more paint from Heron. But first I have to run out of what I purchased! This paint covers A LOT of surface area!
